Abstract

ProtoMatch is a software tool designed for exploratory data analyses on high-density behavioral data. It provides basic protocol analyses and a means of computing the similarity between two or more sequences of temporally ordered data. ProtoMatch is modularized software that integrates both eye gaze and cursor protocols into a unified stream of high-density, sequential, data.

Description

The image above depicts one type of output from ProtoMatch. The image contains a sample task-environment display with eye fixations (circles), mouse fixations (squares) and mouse clicks ("C") overlayed. Color represents a particular interface object assigned to the given fixation. Black represents unassinged fixations.

ProtoMatch is continuously under development and is currently being used to analyze data from CogWorks studies. The application is written in the LispWorks flavor of ANSI Common Lisp. ProtoMatch is now capable of producing files containing high density/definition, sequential data that are importable by MacShapa.
